Install the latest mplayer:

Just add
rpm http://rpm.greysector.net/apt/ fc3 stable testing
to your sources.list. Do an
apt-get update apt-get install mplayer

Configure the codecs:

Copy this codecs.conf to $home/.mplayer/codecs.conf
